Compliments
Oh.. forgot to praise myself... and boast a little.. WAHAHAHAHA
I received compliments for the hamburgers I made..
I received compliments for the crabby snacks (it's actually shredded crab-sticks in mayo/garlic/cheese slices/ chilli/ spring onions on bread, topped with parmesan cheese and toasted to 'perfection' in the toaster oven) with I made for hubby's colleagues...

I'm going to be on my 1st air flight!!!! Ok.. I'm not exactly thrilled... China got the evil milk scare lor.. So dairy products is definately a NO-NO on my eating list.. Dunno what to buy back leh..
Going on budget airline - Tiger Airways... and my flight is tomorrow noon. Gotta check in at 10.45am. So the management informed us to be there by 10am and we have to help our councillors to check in (guide them lar). Our better'er' minister Lim will be joining us, along with mayor, MP Ms Ellen and Dr Lim.
It's our annual Council Retreat and this year I was nominated by my boss, approved by GM to go. Last year was Charlie Brown who went to Vietnam. Going there to work actually..
Anyway.. my mum wanted me to check out the place cos she was thinking of going there with my dad at the end of the year.
So.. I will be away for the weekend.. and back on Sunday night. Hubby was joking that he can go out and mess around.. with his male colleagues (-.-). Sometimes, I wonder if he's a gay... HA HA HA HA.. He got his office darling one hor..

Unfortunately..... we always go there at night to check our reno progress, having without lightings, we couldnt take any pictures lar..
Anyway, our living room flooring is already done, kitchen is starting soon.. and the bedrooms are 1/2 done. Estimating the flooring to be done by Friday.
I'm quite happy with the results as of now.. white flooring.. and the gaps between each tile is about 1 toothpick apart. Without the lights, the living room is still visible with minimum lights. At least not totally dark..
I'm anxiously waiting for my new house to be done.. Our sanctuary... resort.. and get-away home..
House-Warming... ETA December 2008.. So peeps.. watch out for my sms and emails!
Btw.. just a reminder.. if you are planning to get me gifts.. please avoid the following:
1) Coffee Maker - both of us dun drink kopi..
2) Tupperware - my mum bought me a whole carton, full of every single size found available until I can organise a tupperware party
3) Pots/ Pans - my mum bought me (again) many of these since she knows her daughter loves to cook...
4) Mini Hi-Fi - My disciple has already aimed to buy me that..
5) Hair-dryer - Seriously... I dont use it...

My in-laws... gave us $1500 to buy our fridge and any other necessities..
My aunt gave us $1000 to buy anything we want for the house.. and I have used it for my cookerhood, stove, and oven (i just need to top up with another $400)
It's definately a RESORT when the reno is done.. and I'm more than willing to let my family / friends make it into a gathering point (provided someone help me to clean up the mess after).

MC.. yet still can cook.. I'm Super Cook!
Ya..
I'm sick.. yet still can whip up a meal!
Dun worry.. no bacteria were exchanged during the course..
What did I cook?
Hamburger patties (yes... all made from scratch), cauli-prawns, beancurd-wrapping chicken in eggy mushroom sauce and... my Aglio Olio! :P
Sorry.. not in the mood to give recipe.. but..
Pics to show the food.. (and yes.. I have packed some for my lunch and hubby's breakfast tmr with the tupperware my mum bought for me since she saw me packing food every time I cook extra since dunno how many years ago... we've been like using the plastic food containers so she bought me these.)
Now.. dun get hungry...
The ingredients... I usually separate all the ingredients according to the dishes beforehand..
Once you marinate your meat, mould them nicely.. and place them in plastic wraps (i cut up those plastic bags into halves) before u put into the fridge. When u need them, just take it out..
This is.. fried beancurd wrapped chicken.. with egg+mushroom+green capsium sauce.. FUSION..
This is my specialty hor.. restaurant standard (like real). LOL
The lunch for tmr... I doubt I'll have time to eat breakfast.. so i'll keep it for lunch. Just need to heat it up. Wondering when I can stop using those filmsy food seperaters...
My tupperware and Spork! It's a spoon + fork + knife combo.. you can get it at Robinsons! I'm waiting for my mum to get me the tupperware for soups.. wanna make minstrone soup and bring to work...Ok... if you are tempted.. go ahead.. ask me for the recipe! LOL :P

Power of Makeup
Yes..
wanna know the power of makeup?
Nah.. I'm not gonna show you pics that already from the net of taiwanese girls..
I'm gonna show you.. ME!
Yup... I thick-skinned mah.. can let everyone see the naked face of mine.. (actually I just wanna encourage girls out there to be more confident of themselves.. everyone can be pretty, it's just a matter of whether they want or not?)
Anyway, one of the few good reasons why i seldom leave house w/o makeup... die die will have a BIT lor.. except when I go exercise..
This is... no makeup me.. BEWARE!
1) small eyes.. I told you so lor..
2) many many countless battle scars since teenage years..
3) uneven skin tone
4) raging hormones thus the pimples.. OI.. what you thinking?!
However... with the miracle of makeup.. even if it's just a bit, Yes.. NO heavy makeup for me (except during my ROM) .. I can have almost-flawless, almost-even, almost-invisible scars, almost-unseen pimples face!

So.. there's no UGLY women in the world.. but LAZY ones.. so ladies.. if a pig can be beautified, SO CAN YOU!

Another new recipe! Ok.. Sharlene is hoping for makeup applications.. but pai seh, my camera dun seem to pick up the makeup well. My pic all machiam I never put anything one lor..
Ok... I just try try only.. still need to improve cos' it din turn up crispy as i hope it would be..
Ingredients:
(A - Batter)
2 cups of flour (**note: I was using plain flour but result was not fantastic)
1 tablespoon of baking powder
1 can of SODA water (plain soda water)
2 eggs
(B - the fish and the chips)
Russet potatoes - peeled and cut into wedges or strips, up to you)
Fish fillet (frozen/ fresh also can.. )
I bought a pack of 6 fillets-frozen and the batter left with a bit but I guess should be enough to make 8.
How to make?
For the batter, I learn this on this food show Food911. Pretty easy to make, so I decided to make it myself.
Combine plain flour + baking powder, mix well. Home Econ teacher used to tell us to sieve the powders but.. heck lar.. LOL~
Anyway, please note that the flour could be the reason to why my fish wasnt crispy, so I will experiment next time and update accordingly. However if any one of you knows... PLEASE TELL ME! :P
Add in the soda water, fold in the flour mixture using your whisk. Yes.. you will see bubbles... dun just stare! WORK YOUR HANDS!
Add in the eggs to your mixture also.. mix everything until it forms a slightly fluid consistency. Meaning to say, when you use a spoon and scoop the mixture up, the batter should be like those thicken gravy type. If it's dry, add more soda water.
Make sure there's no lumps of flour hor.. btw, I also added in a bit of my garlic spice mixture and sesame oil. Aiyah.. it's Shannon's version what.. of cos I must add in special things.
Prepare a pot of hot oil or if you have a deep fryer, just use it..
Your fish fillets must be THAWED hor... dun stupid stupid use the frozen fillets... wait all the hot oil spray all over your face and you will become like me.. scar face! :P
Marinate your fillets if you want.. otherwise, powder your fish fillets with corn starch. The show recommends corn mill (grinded corn) but I have no idea where to get that. The corn starch is for the batter to have something to hold on to.. otherwise it will just say bye bye to your fish upon touching the hot oil.
Coat with a layer of batter....
Your oil should be relatively hot by now...
Slowly put in your battered fish fillet.... DO NOT THROW IT IN! I know some girls scared, just dump/ throw/ fling the food into hot oil. NEVER NEVER DO THAT! Just slide it in.. the oil is hot enough to cook the batter, and there's no water, so.. no OIL fountain.. no need to be scared..
Lower the heat slightly...
Cook until golden brown. My first attempt... it was brown.. BROWN!! I forgot all about the heat.. yes.. genius makes mistakes too you know! WAHAHAHAHA
Your fish is then done.. Simple hor?
As for the chips.. AIYAH JUST FRY THEM LAR..
Outcome?

JAPANESE CURRY RICE
I've been known to my friends to be a relatively good cook.
My mother is of cos, pleased with her own dotter's cooking expertise.
My hubby, needless to say, enjoys every single thing I cook.. even if it's made from canned soup.
My dad... always wondering how come his dotter can come up with funny-looking fusion foods that he finds it delicious as well..
My brother.... well.. he can always count on his sister to whip out something for him during his bbq/party etc..
My parents-in-law hv been praising their dotter-in-law's cooking skills.. fancy eating home-cooked food that tastes and look like restaurant type. LOL~

Once I tasted something, I'll always go and search for the recipe.. and attempt to do something similar..
So today... I'm gonna reveal my secret to Shannon's Japanese Curry Rice.
Ingredients:
- pork, chopped into cubes (marinated with corn starch, a lil chinese wine, light soya sauce, pepper, sesame oil and mirin)
- onions, chopped into cubes
- potatoes, chopped into cubes
- carrots, chopped into cubes (ok.. today when I cooked, I realised.. there's no carrots left, but u can still put it in lar)
- S&B Golden Curry Sauce Mix (Hot)
- Dunno-how-many-cups-you-want Japanese rice.. I used only pure japanese pearl rice.. bought from giants the other day..
- Japanese crispy chicken for additional side dishes (optional)
What do you do?
Chopped all your ingredients into cubes. If you like it to be circular, rectangular, triangular.. do what u want lar..
Prepare your pot... make sure it's deep enough to contain the sauce.. heat it up
Add oil... then add your chopped onions... sprinkle some salt.. I heard that sprinkling salt to onions will make it sweeter (dunno how true)
Stir fry for a while..
Add in your pork (chicken, beef, lamb whatever)
Fry somemore... at this time, the fire shd be around medium to medium-high
Add in your potatoes.. Remember after cutting your potatoes, you MUST soak them in water with some salt.. You wont wanna see your potatoes turning brown right?
Fry.. fry fry... stir stir stir...
When the pork is almost cooked.... add water... 3/4 to the top... stir somemore..
Then now.. you add the sauce mix to a bowl... add some water from the pot to melt it slightly (it's like chocolate bar)...
Then pour in the sauce mix..
Reduce heat to low.. then stir occassionally...
Your sauce shd be brown colour by now...
I then add in my special ingredient... dried garlic spice blend from The Gourmet Collection (great for the ULTIMATE GARLIC BREAD!!!).. stirred the sauce..
You shd let your sauce simmer... not boiling...
By now, you shd have cooked your rice... if you havent... please go and cook it lar.. you silly bum..
Also go and fry your crispy chicken... once that's done...
Your Japanese Curry sauce shd be ready.. Your onions are already very soft and translucent.. potatoes shd be very soft (use Russet potatoes), carrots also...
Now... just pour over your COOKed rice... add your chicken...
It's done!

KTV
It's been ages since I last stepped into a KTV..
Ok.. going passed a KTV (aka PartyWorld) every now and then doesn't count hor..
Thus.. to relieve my urge (STOP THINKING SO YELLOW!) .. Going to Youtube, staring at the screen, singing like nobody's business when the clip is playing has been one of the many activities I have when at home (apart from doing data entry, churning pivot tables on excel spreadsheeets for report, etc... basically there's no work-life balance... ).
You probably thinking how come I not playing my xbox360? cos.. my hubby's been hogging it every night.. playing his Battlefield: Bad Company, NBA Live08, FIFA 08, Oblivion etc... ever since we got our Xbox360 console exchanged when it died a few weeks ago..
I'm at my last disc of The Lost Odyssey, but.. dunno why I cdnt find the 'desire' to complete it. Ok.. frankly... once I start, I cant stop, so I could be playing all the way till the wee hours of the night without realising it. BAD!
Anyway, I was going through my old old pics that was taken last time.. Stared at them, and thought to myself...
"oh bloody hell! So UGLY sia! Look at my HUGE ARSE!!"
Hey.. wait.. I wasnt even born pretty and with a small arse in the first place.. (-.-)

Came home relatively early today... and I was like clueless on what to do to pass time... Hubby went for site survey @ LeisureWorld (on board the ship lor.. ) and wont be back until night time. Wanted to go jalan-jalan at town area but was dragging my laptop around - not a good choice lor.
I must tahan and save my money.. That Bobbi Brown new fall Mauve collection looks so deliciously appealing to me.. and it's only coming to Singapore in mid August. :(
I even have to resist going on Ebay.. god knows what ting will catch my eye and I probably will fall into its temptation..

F**king Hitachi Credit is only loaning me 24k for my reno. Really f**k lor.. the whole reno costs at least 40k and they only loaning me 24k, for a moment I tot I dun have a good credit record (which is NOT TRUE).. so when I PAID money to see my CBS report, I'm telling you... NOT many peers of my age will be debt free, k!
I paid my credit card bills on time and basically CLEARed every single cent (sometimes I even pay more). Even my hubby's car loan is paid on time every month without fail, till GE money once even offered to loan us $3000 without any conditions, direct transfer to our bank account under 1 year free interest (of cos, we din take up.. hate to be in debt) immediately.
Probably the only thing I never pay on time is my hp and broadband bills... well.. cant blame me.. my hp bill is less than $40 per month, so I usually clear it every 2 months.. LOL. As for my broadband, well... also cheap cheap thus I only clear it every 2 months too..
Whatever it is... I'm going to check out RHB and DBS liao.
BTW.. STANDCHART SUCKS!!!
Even though I have their credit card (cos some of the shopping places I go, standchart offers good discounts), they took AGES to process... CENTURIES to send to me..
Unfortunately they are one of the few banks that offer renovation loan, thus when I went to their Woodlands branch to apply, the CSE told me to call their hotline, cos processing take longer if applied over the counter (I dun mind waiting wat! stupid B I(a)TCH!). The f**king telephone number she gave me was INVALID. So.. I called their hotline, was told that a Sales personnel will call me within 2 days. I waited for 1 week.. NO CALLS.. then I filled up their online form, requesting for the sales personnel to CALL me cos I'm interested to apply (yes.. GIVING THEM BUSINESS HOR) and even sms (kia su lar).
I only received a call from a girl with a HEAVY i-n-d-i-a-n accent (definately dun sound local), mumbling away about my sms on applying for the renovation loan. I explained to her that I'm interested to apply, but I would like to understand more (like payment details to my contractor etc). She then mumbled about calling me back at 1pm (she called me at 11am) and so I waited.... and waited.. 2pm liao.. NOONE CALLED. So maybe I thought she was talking about 1pm the next day.. and so I waited.. and waited.. and waited again.. AGAIN... NOONE CALLED ME BACK!
When finally I got a call from Standchart yesterday... guess what? THE IDIOT CALLED ME TO APPLY FOR THEIR CREDIT LOAN.. I told him I'm not interested, he then asked me further if I own any credit cards, maybe can consider to take up their low-interest transfer rate or something.. By now, I'm damned irritated..
I replied, "No thank you. Please understand that I'm not interested. I clear my credit card bills every month, and has NOTHING to transfer. Good bye." I hung up.
Once their card is with me for a year... I'm gonna tell my hubby not to use it, cut it up and sent back to them. LOUSY LOUSY LOUSY!!!! Cant even give me what I requested for!

Was it Lancaster or BB Cream?
Currently I'm using Lancaster's Infinite White Moisturiser.
It has SPF and claims that constant use will help to illuminate your skin, which means u look more radiant lor.
Tried the sample from Her World, and found that it's quite good. You can use it as a Make Up base as well. It's not greasy and smells great! So far, I think Tangs and OG has it. So if you have Citibank Tangs card, you can buy it (think it's around $92?) and get rebates too.
Been using it for more than 2 months and since you only need to use a pea size to dot on your forehead, cheeks and chin, you can use it for a long time.
Was going through Flowerpod forum one day and found that a lot of girls are raving about BB creams. BB cream also known as Blemish Balm cream. It is formulated for ladies with blemish-prone skin, and was showcased during Nu Ren Wo Zui Da. Thus ladies suddenly go gaga over it.
So.. me.. a self-proclaimed make-up junkie of cos wanna try lar..
Furthermore, the BB cream now has quite a few properties like anti-aging, whitening, sun-block and also a cream foundation.
Most of the BB creams in Singapore is either from Skin Food, The Face Shop, Missha, SA SA or Beauty Language (or Beauty Credit?). Nevertheless, I bought the one from Skin Food - Mushroom BB Cream. It's irritatingly.. EXPENSIVE!! $68 leh!!!!! Lucky got discount if you use HSBC card.
So... I tried lor.. Some of the forum girls say it contains silica aka silicone (most of the BB creams also).. so maybe becos of that, your skin look smoother.. but beware of clogged pores.
I guessed mine did.. still got pimples popping.. SIANZ..
Whitening properties.. well.. maybe it did.. whiten slightly.. ? Hardly noticeable..
Thick and.. quite easy to blend.. Coverage, ok only wor..
Then I went to Ebay one day... and found another brand Coogi which was also introduced in the forum and many girls love it! It doesnt contain silica nor mineral oil. Because you cant get it in Singapore, the only way they claim is either through sprees in Livejournal (seriously.. I no idea where to find one lor..) or from Ebay.
Anyway, got to know one seller selling it. It's relatively cheaper than Skin Food's.
If you are interested, can search for codinara. She will ship from Seoul, Korea to Singapore. Shipping charges of cos.. is expensive. But you will also receive lotsa samples from her as well!
I bought 2 tubes from her.. and mind you, the tube isnt big, compared to Skin Food.
It may be small.. but.. IT'S REALLY GOOD!!
Beats Skin Food hands down leh!
Easier to blend cos it's not very creamy and thick, but slightly more watery than Skin Food.
Smells good.. staying power, fantastic!
Coverage is relatively on the medium side, so for girls who has better skin, you probably dun even need concealer. As for me, just a few dabs of concealer and the scars are covered up quite well.
I have no idea how long the product can last before it expires, so I'm not buying in bulk. Only when I'm at my 2nd tube, I'll order from codinara again.
My skin has indeed become better. No idea which product is the one but.. I'm sticking to them for now.
If you are wondering how to apply makeup with BB cream as foundation, here's how (or how I do mine). Note that BB cream is already a cream foundation, so do not attempt to put on 2-way cake, else you will risk looking all cakey and wayang-ish. For now, it's more for fair-skinned ladies since it was formulated in Korea/ Japan. So I'm not sure if the colour will suit our Malay/ Indian ladies.
Step 1: Put on your moisturiser (Lancaster has SPF so I dun use sun block). Let your skin absorb.
Step 2: Once your skin is ready, you can squeeze a 5 cent size cream onto the back of your hand. In this way, you dun have to worry about putting too much. Just dab a little using your finger, for me, I start at my forehead. Dab and blend.
Step 3: Similarly do the same for the rest of your face. For me, I avoid my eye lids area. Dab a bit more at areas where you need more coverage. Becos you start out putting a bit, you can then layer more when needed.
Step 4: Dab on concealer where you need.
Step 5: I dab a little BeneTint on my cheeks. This serves like a base (cos even when your powder blush is gone, you still can look as though you got some blush).
I dun really follow the method told on the bottle (draw 3 lines on each cheek). Before I can blend, BeneTint has already dried and by then I would have been looking like a cat.. LOL. So what I did was staining one of my fingers and then blend (or dab) on my cheeks. Layer more if needed (but risk looking like baboon butts).
Step 6: Loose powder to set the foundation. Instead of using a brush, I use those conventional puff. Using a light hand, pat your face all over with the puff as though you are dusting your face. As you do that, press down the puff as well. In this way, you can minimise your pores (visually). A trick i learnt from the makeup artist that does my makeup on my ROM.
You can use those mineral makeup finishing powder as well. There's once I tried dusting my mineral makeup foundation, but I really look like having heavy makeup on. So.. not advisable lor..
Step 7: Your face is now done and you can proceed to do your eye/ cheek/ lips.
For a nude look, just put on a base colour for your eyes, then line them, not forgetting to use your mascara. For cheeks, just lightly dust some blush and put on lip gloss or pink lipstick (you can blot your lips with a tissue). Your nude look is ready. Cool eh?
The makeup can last for some time till after lunch before I need to blot. No patches or what-so-ever..
I went for exercise in my makeup as well, and after a bath, my makeup still there with a slight tint of blush. Probably just need to touch up a little with pressed powder but I didnt. Cos going home liao wat.. no need to waste makeup.

Something to be happy about!
I've successfully lost ... hmm.... 4kg!!!
Previously, I'm like around.. 80kg? then dropped around 76kg.. then.. increased to around 78kg again (for not exercising for 4 months) ...
Since May, I pushed myself back into exercising.. and the last time I weighed myself around the 1st week of July, I'm 74kg!!! WOOoHoOOOOO!!!!!
But... actually.. my ideal weight for 1.58m should be less than 60kg. KNN..
Another 14kg to go..
To do that, I need to be very very disciplined i.e.: gym 1 hr, 3x a week (like as if it's that easy.. with so much work to do), diet... really.. diet.. like totally can forget all the bad-for-diet foods..
So.. I'll be missing out a lot.. therefore, I decided, not to make it such a boring thing.
Here's my plan:
1) Gym 3x a week if possible, else at least minimum 1x , OR jog-a-walk at Lakeside Park.
2) Heavy breakfast (very important meal of the day), lunch - light (anyway, probably wont be able to eat much cos of the heavy breakfast), dinner - half the amount I usually eat i.e.: less rice, more veggy, moderate amount of meat and drink lotsa water!
3) Avoid fried/ oily foods whenever possible. Only give myself a treat once in a while.. chocolates and ice cream can be eaten as an encouragement for keeping myself on schedule.
Target weight: 70kg by Sep 08.
I can do it.. for the sake of being able to buy clothes with ease.. to be in tip top condition if we ever gonna have a photoshoot or for our chinese wedding tea ceremony ..
How to motivate oneself? Easy..
Plan for yourself a short term goal that's achievable.. for myself it's 4kg in 2 months.
Focus on your new running shoes that you buy for exercising.. if you buy it, you gotta be wearing it, right?
Imagine your exercise clothes that's getting looser, and you look radiant when you look yourself in the mirror inside the gym..
Attempt to try on exercise gear that you couldnt wear previously in the store, trying is free wat! Furthermore you might be surprised that you can fit in, maybe not loose but at least you dun look like ba-chang.. I'm hoping I can fit into Nike Women's XL size soon.. Thank god, Reebok got UK16 exercise gear that's cheap and stylish. Go exercise also must go in style what.. If you feel good, you will look good too.
All those working pants and clothes that you previously felt that's a little tight, no longer feel tight at certain areas now.. A pair of pants I bought previously (in April) felt body-hugging when I first bought it (but still fit me then - except I gotta wear a corset to keep those flabby tummy love handles cos they are also visible when I'm standing), now it's loose, not only at the waist area, but also at the thighs. No longer have the extra love handles even when I'm standing (sit down still have lar)
Your skin also becomes clearer and glows! Yup, last year when I was exercising (and going for classes), my skin was clearer also.. hey imagine, I wore makeup to exercise hor (after work mah) and less breakouts some more.. Then when I stopped, my acne friends came back and the scars wont go away lor!!!

CAR ACCIDENT!!
Brother unfortunately got into a car accident on Tuesday while on his way to work.
His car got kissed at the back by a garbage truck.
Luckily, he didnt suffer any injury except for his neck. Whiplash.. they called it.
His car gotta go to the car-siptal (ha ha ha.. car hospital lar.. aka workshop) for a change to his bumper.

Oh.. our workshop had helped us to claim around $1100 of insurance from the idiot who parked his van on a double zig-zag (cant remember white/ yellow) line road and opened his door when my hubby drove our antique race car past it (location is at a tiny lane behind UOB Plaza). Side mirror cracked.. Idiot insisted not paying $40 (we asked for $75), and so.. hubby told the workshop to claim the idiot's insurance lor. Idiot also wanted to claim ours, saying that hubby was speeding (he's driving at 40-50km/h which is WITHIN THE SPEED LIMIT)... but hey, he wont win lor.. Why?
Cos he's already in the wrong for PARKING on the road with DOUBLE ZIGZAG LINES (ok.. serious, white/ yellow?) and moreover, IDIOT NEVER CHECKED BEFORE OPENING DOOR!
In 2 months' time we will be getting a new paint work for the car.. WooHoo~!
His car got kissed at the back by a garbage truck.
Luckily, he didnt suffer any injury except for his neck. Whiplash.. they called it.
His car gotta go to the car-siptal (ha ha ha.. car hospital lar.. aka workshop) for a change to his bumper.

It's been 2 weeks since the death of Fei Mao...
We brought back his ashes, placed his fave crabmeat (kitty snacks) and cat biscuits in front of his little urn. Brownie is still adjusting to being alone... Once in a while she will walk around the house, meowing... as though she's calling for Fei Mao. When Fei Mao passed away, she was restless and pretty emo, never stepped into my brother's room then. However once we brought Fei Mao back, she immediately went into his room, up onto the bed and laid there. It felt as though he's back, and she's lying there beside him like the usual..
As much as my parents tried to persuade us not to bring back, we insisted. He's part of the family, brought back to our home since young. He never left the house before.. leaving him alone to fend for himself in a totally unusual place, that's not possible. My brother told me that his gf refused to come to our house anymore because of the ashes. I find it amusing...
It's just ashes.. even if the 'spirit' comes back and stays in the house, what harm can he do? Even when alive, he just laid down at the computer table or the bed to laze, never even bother anyone. So even his spirit will just do the same..
In fact now, he's like a guardian angel.. making sure everyone in the house is safe..
Hubby says Fei Mao probably died to block some disaster in the family, maybe that's Fei Mao's way of saying thanks to us for taking care and doting on him for the past 14 years. I guess I felt the same way.. he was still strolling around in the house, lazing at the living room when all of a sudden, he just grasped for breath, dragging his hind legs to go to his fave spot.......... to wait for his master to return, to see him, before he leaves...
I never regret bringing strays home.. To date, I brought 4 kitties home, Fei Mao, Brownie, Boy-Boy (the blue-eyed tabby kitten with brown paws) and P-P (the fiesty cat that now dominates my hubby's house). I'm an animal lover.. dogs, cats, birds, tortoises, fishes etc... I couldn't bear to see an animal suffering. Whenever hubby sees a dead dog/ cat/ bird lying in the middle of the road, he will warn me and I'll just look elsewhere. More or less, I've developed a slight phobia of seeing such after witnessing a cat being hit by a car. I hate watching movies that involved animals that die saving their master/mistress.. makes me cry every time..
I can't imagine having Brownie leaving us as well... I know one day she will.. especially she's such a vocal little piggy.. I'm hesitant about bringing another one home.. worrying if the new cat can get along with brownie is one thing, seeing your own pet pass away is another..

In memory of my precious pet, Fei Mao
Fei Mao died at 12.08am early this morning 2nd July 2008. He died of a sudden heart failure..
14 years he has been with us, brought home by my brother when the mother cat was chased away by the stall owners... In human age, he's almost 80 years old, according to the vet.
He still looked so healthy, energetic.. never one time any one will think he's already so old..
He will nib your ankle if you walked past him near the kitchen entrance, just to get your attention to feed him his fave crabstick.
Twirl around your legs just to ask you to open the door for him to stroll and lay down at the corridor or to put fresh cat biscuits into his bowl..
He's a Cat Washer... licking and grooming Brownie's fur every time she walked past..
Even chewed off her whiskers too..
Every night without fail, he will sleep beside my brother..
Now... my brother sleeps alone..
Brownie no longer has a playmate.. a cat washer... a guardian to guard her from the evil horny tomcat that comes up to my house almost every night..
I missed him dearly... guess my brother is feeling the impact even more.. Brownie is following us everywhere, meowing every now and then, looking at every corner.. telling us how much she misses Fei Mao..
14 years of endless tender loving care... the joy... and the fun...
To you, my Pui Pui.. my baby..
Papa, Mama, Kor kor and your Jie Jie here will always remember you forever..

No money go cosmetic surgery for double eyelid surgery...
What do you do?
Put double eyelid tape...

Wear big-eye contact lenses...
You said it.. i tried it...
Well... the effect... you see the pic beside? That's the work of a professional makeup artist.. and that's only done during my ROM..
For everyday office makeup... I will be crazy to spend another 30 to 45 extra minutes to do all those lor..
Already I'm spending like around 45 mins to cover/ conceal my pimples, acne scars, dark eye circles, swirl around with my mineral makeup from TLC (http://www.kohfusion.com/TLC ), blusher, and lip gloss... another 15 minutes... to do my eyes...
I cant even get anywhere near that effect.. probably just 25%..
How do I usually do it?
First... brush on a neutral eyeshadow colour all over your eyelids.. I've been using Bone from Bobbi Brown. I never put foundation on my eye lids..
Then... choose 2 colours.. I will usually depend on the colour of my clothes.. If i'm gonna wear green, I will put on moss green with another cyan-lookalike colour.
Cyan-lookalike will be for the inner part of the eyes (that's near to your nose) then blend in the moss green (cos' its a darker shade). They say, a little shimmer at the inner corners will open up your eyes mah..
Finish that... and I will be dipping my eyeliner brush into Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner. So far.. this is the only one that stays... throughout the whole day... even when I go gym and have a bath (splashing my face with cold water, just to freshen up).. no smudges.. I've got 3 colours so far.. and been using it for the past 3 years.. I only used up Sepia Ink so far..
So.. eyeliner... well.. drawn as close to my lashes as possible.. then thicken up.. until..... when I open my eyes, I can see a tiny weeny bit of the eyeliner.. soften that line a little.. so that my eyes dun look harsh.
Curl the lashes... put on 3 coats of mascara.. also from Bobbi Brown - No Smudge in black. Lives up to its name too.. leaving each coat to dry before you put on the next one... dun forget the lower lashes..
Curl the lashes (upper) slightly again...
I'm done.
The look? well... I look as if.. I'm around 50% awake.. WAHAHAHAHAHA..
FYI.. anything i do with my eyes hardly show up in pictures anyway..

I've been having this case of neck and shoulder aches... and sometimes, the muscles got so tensed... that I eventually get headaches.
BAD BAD headaches...
Been to a chinese physician before and well... he just said that we OFFICE people stared and sat at our workstations for very long every single day... and... with our bad sitting posture, of course our neck and shoulders will ache.
Blame it on my office chair that can sink automatically without me adjusting it. Most of the times, you will probably see me adjusting the chair to its full height. 3 years liao.. plus the person before me... probably 4 years? This chair has endured its toughest challenges (ya.. I'm talking about my weight lar.. ) ..
Whichever it is.... it's probably not gonna be cured.. I can only pray for a daily neck and shoulder massage.. maybe that will ease the muscles a little.. or.. stock up on 'Yoko-Yoko'..
Anyway, it's been 2 months since I last update. Well... minus away the time which I had to spend overtime in my office for the annual DM... rushing reports... doing this and that... I'm just too lazy to update anything in here..
Probably my life is getting a bit too boring eh?
So.. my house.. ya... we got a contractor... we finalised the details... and....... we have to go and apply for renovation loans. If only the house comes with the floor tiles etc.. I could have save at least 10k. But too bad lor... the house.. is... BARE... except for the toilets..
Due to some unforeseen circumstances... we have to omit out building a platform at the balcony. That's supposed to be my cosy/ relaxation corner.. Bought a few furniture at Beach Road The Furniture Mall that suits our theme, which by the way is supposed to be minimalism. Hubby seemed to have a fetish for high gloss finishes... -.-
Whichever it is... the house thingy is wiping out our entire savings... there goes my bonuses from the last couple of years.. No choice eh... some furniture have to be pay in cash lor..
Lucky thing is... my mum and dad is buying for me the washing machine.. and mum has already helped me buy tupperware/ pans/ pots etc.. whereas hubby's mum told him that she's probably will sponsor us the fridge. We probably have to top it up a little cos the model that we wanted was above 2k.
I'm sourcing around for good deals on stoves.. with the oil-and-fume sucker thingy (geez... what's that thing called?!!) and an oven which I can throw into my kitchen cabinet. Seen 1 package at Tradehub 21 for around 1.5k. Pondering whether to get it..
If anyone intending to buy a house, and planning for renovations... let me tell you.. here are some things which I learnt..
1) Decide on what style that you want your house to take on.. do your research first..
2) NEVER buy your furniture before you decide on the style.. cos whatever you buy may not suit the style..
3) NEVER buy a set of furniture just becos.... you like the COFFEE TABLE only.. hubby told me that his colleague bought a set of dining table and coffee table, just becos the wife likes the coffee table... DUH~
4) Calculate your expenses and budget based on the TOTAL actual price... NOT the deposit. The same colleague claimed that his renovation/ furniture expenses are cheaper than ours... when he only calculated the deposits he paid for the furniture not the full price. 90% of our furniture is custom-made and together in the quotation that my contractor has given us.
5) If your contractor/ designer never offers to buy for you drinks at your first meeting, doesn't mean they are bad... in fact, you are supposed to buy them drinks instead so that your contractor/ designer will put in 100% effort in renovating your house. Those designers at IMM are just for show... they can only give you designs.. but when it comes to the actual work, they knows nuts.
6) If you like a certain designer furniture, you can always ask your contractor if they are able to do it cos' if they can, it's gonna save you... a LOT of money..
7) Chewy Interior Design (firm) is for aunties and uncles... I'm saying this cos... all their designs look the same, and outdated.. their designers are not exactly having interior-design background. Designers are supposed to compliment whatever design/ style that you already have in mind or suggestions to make it better, NOT critersizing your concept and ATTEMPTED to change the whole thing to their liking. 1 incident is enough to haunt me for a lifetime...
and lastly....
MAKE SURE YOU SCRIMPED AND SAVED BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING!! Ya.. money's the decision maker...
I've got a few more thingies.. but I'll probably saved it for the next time.

Topic-less
It's probably the first time..
tat I cried after so long..
I dunno whether to consider it as my fault..
Since I'm a team leader.. I guess I am at fault..
I assume that after all the emails that went to and fro to every one.. every one knew what to do..
I delegated jobs to everyone.. and informed them that we had to launch it soon, cos it's already been delayed..
In the end.. another tl already done up the posters.. so now members need not do.. informed another member to do up the list of hp numbers.. but she only did it halfway, perhaps not enough time. I volunteered to finish it for her.. and stayed up on Sunday night until 1am to finish the 1st part.
Wasnt feeling too well.. so took medication and urgent leave to rest. Emailed to members to put up the posters and upload the templates into the pc.
Here.. I assumed it's not going to take more than 5 mins to get 4 posters up and 4 templates into the pc.
I finally finished the numbers and type out the sms which all of us agreed on last Friday.
I broadcasted out...
Received call at 3plus.. informing me that the sms which I sent out, the people called.. in fact too many called.. I specifically indicated to them to COME to the office.. not call..
Now.. i declare... s'poreans dunno how to read..
It's a mess at the office then.. cos everyone came.. and.. posters are not up.. templates also..
So.. it's now my fault that I assumed that things are DONE..
I had to resend the sms again, to inform these pple to come to the office to find out about the dates and register..
I guess this is the point where I got really stressed over it.. cos I know eventually it will get into the ears of our GM. sms to my manager to apologise for the mistake (yes.. i take it as my mistake) and informed her that I will hold responsible should our gm ask.
At this point.. I just cried.
I thought of resigning from my job.. it's getting too stressful.. things are made even more stressful when it doesn't go your way especially due to people's factor.
Perhaps I should just email to my friends and check with them if they've got any lobangs on jobs and quickly update my resume.
Or perhaps I should just request for job rotation.. or transfer.. to somewhere else..
If, no matter what you do or how well you have done, if the main person who is the main deciding factor does not agree with you on what you have done.. everything is just a waste of efforts.
I may not hold a degree.. I may not be as knowledgable.. I may seem to be someone who is not serious.. but.. where I am now, I'm very sure I put in double as much effort to achieve it.
Maybe to some, degree defines your status, knowledge?

I know, it's been very long since I had updated this blog. Maintaining a blog after work everyday is not easy. I also have no idea what to blog about.
At least now... I have something to blog about. Oh ya.. may not necessary sound good.
We just had a change of GM since January 08.
I finally realised that having a male GM and a female GM.. really can see the difference.
One was a fatherly figure.. another... top notch career woman who challenges us to think out of the box... everything must be able to respond fast..
Many of my friends look at me as someone who is.. cheerful, outgoing personality.. and perhaps a crazy fella who always smile.. although I tend to be quiet at times when I'm concentrating/focusing on doing something... but most of the time, you probably see me as a smiling piggy. Right?
So now.. gm commented that I can be a tat childish at times.. I guess it's because I smile, while trying to explain something during a meeting. Yes.. smiling makes one look NOT serious. I agreed. But that doesn't mean that I'M NOT A SERIOUS PERSON AT WORK!!!
If you have any idea how nervous and stressed I was during the meeting... So my tendency is to smile.. cos it relieves me of stress and allows me to think and respond fast. You know how your mind goes blank when you are nervous?
So now.. I have to.. be SERIOUS.. at least.. ACT SERIOUS..

So now.. gm commented that I can be a tat childish at times.. I guess it's because I smile, while trying to explain something during a meeting. Yes.. smiling makes one look NOT serious. I agreed. But that doesn't mean that I'M NOT A SERIOUS PERSON AT WORK!!!
If you have any idea how nervous and stressed I was during the meeting... So my tendency is to smile.. cos it relieves me of stress and allows me to think and respond fast. You know how your mind goes blank when you are nervous?
So now.. I have to.. be SERIOUS.. at least.. ACT SERIOUS..

Mineral Makeup!!!!
Hurray!!!
My mineral makeup samples from The Lush Collection is here!!!
It's a locally-based company that imports the mineral makeup from the USA.
Why mineral makeup? For a person like me, who has sensitive, problemtic, acne-prone skin, you really don't wish to use anything, that contains oil. B'cos the oil will clog up your pores, and the result? More pimples, acne.. and SCARS!!
So for mineral makeup, it's basically minerals which have been crushed and finely milled into powder.. They don't clog up your pores. I guess mineral makeup might work better for those who have clearer skin, but nevertheless, it's worth to try and use.
Don't forget, it's easy to use.
Just need to take out a small amount onto a pan, use a big round brush (which have bristles that are tightly packed together), swirl the powder around the brush-head, then tap off the excess.
Then all you need to do, is to just swirl around your face. No need to worry about streaks. swirling around already blend the powder into your skin. They don't oxidise also, so.. they wont turn a shade darker. However... as much as they say it's smudge-proof or sweat-proof... I will review about that. heh heh..
So anyway, I was kinda trying out Loreal's mineral makeup.. but it really sucks.. cos' none of them really suits my skin tone. furthermore... it smells like my cat's dried pee. gross~
So.. after hearing so much from the podders at flowerpod.com, rather than to wait 3-4 weeks (or more) for those US-based companies to send me their samples (which are in US$), I decided to try out this TLC (not Tender Loving Care).
My samples include
1 x sample kit that has 3 foundation tones and 1 multi-pupose/ finishing powder. I then order another 2 more foundation tones, and 2 multi-purpose powder and 2 more finishing powder.
So guess how much I have to pay, including postage?
Not $50..
Not $40..
Not even $30...
It's only $26.50, that already include $2 for postage fee.
Cheap right?

Or.. if you know how to choose the foundation colours using the existing foundation colours we have, do enlighten us. I'm currently using Bobbi Brown's Oil-Free Even Compact Foundation which is Beige, however my loose powder is Soft Sand.
So... anyone want to shed some light into this mystery on how to choose the correct shade?

Lazy to blog nowadays.. am only blogging now, since I'm suffering from throat infection, with yellowish spots crawling around the back of my throat. No cough, not much running nose now.. But.. aching back, shoulders, neck.. and joints. Drowsy.. yet not feeling sleepy..
Oh.. did i mention that the doctor has informed me that I've got IBR?
Insect Bite Reaction!!
Meaning to say.... I'll get allergy reaction to any insect bites, even mosquitoe's!!! No wonder, for no reason I always get rashes/ itch on my arms and legs after I got like a mosquito bite from nowhere.. which resulted in ugly scar marks after the itch. I got sensitive skin...
So.. a cream was given to me to heal those scars.. cos.. THERE'S NO MEDICINE FOR IBR!!!#%^&()%^&*
Pretty upset today.. also becos' my trusty Olympus.. bullied me. The SD Card suddenly couldn't let me view the files which I've taken during my ROM.. and I had to no choice but to format it. :(
The only consoling part is that we've got another friend who has helped us in phototaking using my father-in-law's Nikon D70 and I've got the CD already.
Seriously... I didn't really look fabulous that day.. sadly.. I didn't manage to slim down as much as I hope I will be, despite the Amore exercises. My arms are big and flabby.. Like duh~ (it has always been like that), I just realise that I've got like.. DOUBLE chin in almost every pic!!!!
Seriously.. I've never really have any pics with me having DOUBLE CHIN!!! My butt is like.. for no reason.. BIG.. I guess it's the dress (ok.. just telling myself that I'm that big by default)... My makeup..
Ok.. I've got double eyelids.. cool.. I like that.. nice eye lashes.. thanks to the falsies done by my MA..
BUT... I LOOK SO WHITE!!! The makeup is so THICK!!! She's din use the foundation which I brought, but instead use her own.. and she used mine on my shoulder areas.. (-.-) Eventually.. my foundation was of cos.. GONE!
I reckon it's oil free.. cos straight after my ROM day.. my acne problem came back with a BANG.. my teenage days came back to haunt me with all the big angry bumps.. ready to erupt anytime!
Since I perspire easily.. the makeup.. started to melt just after we finished signing.. and about to take some pics for memory's sake. By using tissues to blot.. I can see foundation on my tissue paper.. thank god, it didn't leave my face looking patchy.
Certain photos I took was myself looking ghastly white.. while some (due to lightings) was perfectly taken. My skin looks almost flawless in a couple of them. Mind you.. I have a couple of big bumps on that day..
